Where Are You Wasting Your Time?

wasting timeAs a business owner, it is important to keep track of how your time is spent. Your days could be filled with endless activity and countless tasks, but are these activities helping your business grow or are they just wasting your time?

At the beginning of each day, sit down and actually write out a list of the day’s tasks in order of importance. Delegate anything that could be done by someone else, leaving you free to pursue those duties that can only be done effectively by yourself personally. Now that you have a list of things you have to do for that day, make sure you haven’t overloaded yourself unrealistically and then start taking care of one item at a time until you have the entire list crossed off. Stay focused on the task you are currently giving attention to and do not become distracted by other things unless they are of critical importance.

Of course, there are going to be times when you should change up what you’re doing and handle a pressing matter first. When that happens, just make sure that you return to your list and resume where you left off before the interruption occurred. Keep distractions to a minimum and remind yourself often of the importance of each task in the grand scheme of how it fits into your business being successful. Pep yourself up with positive self-talk, remember to eat regularly, and make the most of your valuable time.
