Examples of Invoice Configurations

  • Standard Summary Invoice with Logo

    VIEW SAMPLE

This invoice shows a standard summary by item type, hourly fees, expenses, and fixed price items. Invoices can also be broken down into much more detail (there a few examples below). Other configurable options on this invoice include the custom logo, the remit-to area, and the additional information area. Also make sure to scroll to the next page to see the detail section (also configurable).

  • No Logo with Column Removed

    VIEW SAMPLE

This invoice doesn't show a logo and notice the dollar column is hidden in the detail breakout section. Hiding the dollar column prevents your client from associating a dollar amount with a particular task, which might cause them to eliminate certain billables in the future. You can also hide the Rate column. Also notice this invoice uses the "One-Page" option so the detail section starts on the cover page.

  • Show Running Balances and Last Paid Amounts

    VIEW SAMPLE

This invoice breaks out the hours by worker. Also the bill document type was used, which shows running balances and past paid amounts. When you create invoices using the bill document type, last paid amounts, forward balances, and a "Pay This Amount" field will be included, although the exact labels are configurable.

Different Ways to Display Billing Info on Invoices

  • By Item Type and Project

    VIEW SAMPLE

This invoice starts the detail section on the second page. Also, you'll notice that the cover page and detail information is further broken down by Project. You can even configure the cover page to be broken down in a different way from the detail section. In this sample, both the cover page and detail section are broken down by Item Type and Project.

  • By Item Type, Project, and Activity.

    VIEW SAMPLE

This invoice also starts the detail section on the second page, and further breaks the billing down to the activity level. There is also a memo section containing a message to the client. We've used the billdocument type in this example so the invoice shows information pertaining to the running balance, such as last payment amounts and current balances.

  • By Item Type, Project, Activity, and Worker

    VIEW SAMPLE

There's a good amount of information on this invoice but some clients do require a lot of detail. Choose exactly how to break down your billable items into different groups (Up to 5) so your clients can clearly identify each charge. This example groups the data by item type, project, activity, and worker.

  • By Item Type, Worker, Activity, and Project

Not only can you group the data any way you want, but you can sort it as as well. In fact, you can sort the group heirarchy any way you want. This invoice has the same amount of data as the previous sample invoice (left), but the group heirarchy (e.g. order) is different. Worker is sorted higher than the Project or Activity, and the Activity is sorted higher than the project.
